Judicial recount ordered in 1, withdrawn in another
REGINA — Elections Canada has ordered a judicial recount in one Saskatchewan riding while it ended another.
The recount will be held Monday in the riding of Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River.
The NDP’s Georgina Jolibois was elected with a margin of only 70 votes between her and Liberal candidate Lawrence Joseph.
Joseph, who asked for the recount, was critical of the voting process, claiming a lack of ballots at some polling stations.
Also Friday, the judicial recount in Regina Lewvan ended after Conservative candidate Trent Fraser withdrew his request.
Fraser was beaten by NDP’s Erin Weir by 132 votes on election night.
