Building on the excitement of last year’s splendid biopic Mr. Turner , an exhibition featuring more than 50 paintings and works on paper on loan from Tate Britain continues the celebration of a titan of British art who died in 1851. An exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario focuses on the landscape specialist’s late-stage experimental works, a period of no waning vigour that was marked by explorations of the mysteries of light, with atmospheric effects previously undreamed.
